Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Shampoo & The Conditioner Review

I was recently sent a selection of Paul Mitchell products to try out  and I've now been using the Shampoo & Conditioner for a few weeks so I feel able to comment.

First up, the Awapuhi Shampoo.  The packaging for the this brand is sleek and stylish and suitable for even the most minimalistic of bathrooms! One important thing that I should mention is that the brand do not conduct or endorse animal testing. Anyway, back to the Shampoo. On the bottle it reads:
"For all hair types. Suitable for daily use. For body and shine. Replenished moisture. Excellent body wash. This ultra rich formula contains the Activated Moisturizing and Shine Blend of Hawaiian awapuhi, chamomile, henna, rosemary, aloe vera and jojoba."

It's a subtle, but very nice smell. This shampoo goes a long way, you only need the tiniest bit, which is a relief because often with shampoos I find I need loads to get it through all my hair which is dry and tangly. It's a lovely shampoo, lightly but beautifully scented product. A 300ml bottle is around the £7 mark depending on where you buy it (try www.lookfantastic.com). Nice shampoo. As an extra bonus, it says on the bottle you can use it as a body wash. I'd imagine most shampoo is suitable for this, but having it written down is an added incentive to do so. It works really well for that purpose.

Next up, The Conditioner.

This product is about £10 for 300ml again depending on where you buy it. First thing to mention is that it's a leave in conditioner, a fact I failed to notice before I slathered it on and showered it off in the shower... anyway. The blurb says:
"Paul Mitchell The Conditioner is a quickly absorbed leave-in moisturiser and conditioner that improves texture, reduces static and smoothes the surface of your hair, leaving it nourished and protected from the wear and tear of daily styling.

Moisturising conditioners and Paul Mitchell’s exclusive Activated Moisture Blend of awapuhi balance moisture and prevent dryness, while wheat-derived conditioners smooth the surface and reduce static."

It took me a long time actually to work out the correct amount to use on my hair. My first attempt saw me having to wash my hair as there was so much conditioner in it, but with a bit of trial error I learned that when they say use a small amount they really mean it. The amount that I needed was the size of a 5p piece. Tiny. It's a nice blue gel and smells fresh, however, sadly this product didn't work for me. It wasn't nearly moisturising enough and I swear I could still feel the product in my hair, despite using such a tiny amount. I do think this could work really well for someone who wants body in their hair but for my extremely dry hair it just didn't work. BUT! This is another product with a double use, in this case as a moisturiser! I was dubious, but actually it works a treat, it's water based, so isn't a heavy product, but asa light moisturiser it works a treat so I won't have any probs using it up. Bonus!
