My Updated Mac Lipstick Collection with Swatches (Pic Heavy)

Hi all,

Hope you're all liking my new look blog. Please do let me know if you have any problems with it at all Also, I'd really love to know if the words in the label's cloud over there on the right appears orange or green for you?

Anyway, today I thought it was time to do an updated post about my Mac Lippies since the collection has expanded a wee bit and according to my stats the first post like this iss one of my top five most popular posts of all time.

It's not a large collection, but I think swatches are always useful although many of these are limited editions and so no longer available. Anyway, I'll stop waffling and get on with it. I've sorted these out according to the finish.

First up we have three Dazzle lipsticks. Dazzle is the newest lipstick finish to join the Mac range and is not one for anyone who doesn't like glitter. I love all of these although Glaringly Hip isn't my favourite.
L-R: Glaringly Hip, Win-Win and Hellraiser

Next up Cremesheen. I do not like this finish at all and although the colour of this lipstick is beautiful, I just can't get on with it all. I just find it so streaky. I had more than one of these, but sold the others so now I just have Jazzed.

Next Frost finish. It's a scary sounding formula, but none of these are Frost as I imagine frost to be (scary pale pink 80's lips). Frost is, in the case of the lipsticks I own, far more subtle and one of my favourite formula's. Special mention to Rose Maiden, one of my favourite lipsticks.
L-R Rose Maiden, Aristo-cat and Victorian.
And what about Angel. I love this lipstick. But my daughter wound it up and then put the lid on... it was full, I can't throw it away so I just have to use a brush to fish it out!

Next, Lustre finishes.  This is a nice finish. Similar to Cremesheen but minus the streaks.
L-R:  Fresh Salmon, Viva Glam Cyndi and Cockney.

Amplified. Not a fan of this finish. It's a bit thick and heavy feeling on my lips. This is a lovely colour though, I should try to get more wear out of it really. This is Warm Me Up.

Next we have Glaze finishes. This is a nice finish, packs a good punch of colour, but has a lovely sheen to it. In my opinion Hot Tahiti is the perfect every day red.
L-R: Total Wow and Hot Tahiti

Lastly,  my favourite finish. Matte. I just love the look of these on, and the wear I get out of them is excellent. Matte isn't for everyone and people do report finding them drying, but I don't seem to have this problem. They just wear really well on me. Probably not a great finish if you suffer with dry lips. Honeylove is my absolute favourite nude. It's pale but not too pale for me.
L-R: Honeylove, Please Me and Velvet Teddy.

So there we have it! That's all of them. Now what I really want to know is, what is the glaring omission? What lipstick are you surprised I don't have already or which do you recommend?

  5. Lovely post! I love looking at lippie collections! I was a bit hesitant when you mentioned mattes but you have in actual fact, I hadn't realised the ones you had mentioned were mattes at all! Velvet Teddy is one that I have wanted to swatch for a long time.

    Thanks for sharing! xx

  7. I bought High Tea lustre, and Half N' Half Amplified yesterday and am loving them both. They're both nude-ish tones.

I heart Hot Tahiti (after Rache recommended it), it's definitely a classic. And Twig Satin was my very first posh lipstick, bought in about 1993, when MAC hadn't been Estee Laudered...!

I have Fleshpot (from the Heatherette range I think??) which I like, but just can't pull off the look. Do you reckon a gloss on top would improve it...?

  8. I've had my eye on High Tea for a while - you'll have to let me know! Definitely use a gloss over Fleshpot. Also, you can use it to blank out your lips to get a good colour payoff from another colour!

  9. Aah yes good point re using it to get a blank canvas. High Tea is lovely IMHO but don't trust me, I'm not an expert! ;)

    Cheers mdear xx
