Bare Minerals Get Started Kit, Light

For many years I was a user of mineral foundation, namely Lily Lolo. In the last couple of years however, I've found it doesn't meet my requirements anymore and I've returned to more traditional liquid formla in varying finishes. However, I was recently offered the opportunity to try out bareMinerals and was keen to give it a whirl in case it did whatever the Lily Lolo wasn't doing for me.

What I was sent was the Get Started Kit, in Light.

It's a good starter kit. It has plenty in it to get you started.

Two pots of foundation in Light and Fairly Light, a pot of Mineral Veil, Warmth All Over Face Colour, Concealer in Bisque and three brushes, one for concealer and two for the powder application, one for heavier coveage and one for lighter coverage. Also included is an informative.

I wish I could tell you I loved this kit, sadly it's just not for me. Both Light and Fairly Light foundation are the wrong colour for me and give me a fairly orange glow, the Bisque concealer is far far too dark and several shades darker than the foundation and the Warmth face colour is far too dark for me, I think you can just see in the above picture that pot of dark brown powder!

I should point out that I'm not the palest peson in the world, approximately a NW20. I also struggled to get the level of coverage I like and the more product I applied the oranger I got! Here's a little look at my face, it's a flattering picture colour wise. Trust me, theres a huge difference between my face and chest.

Having said all that I don't dislike these products. The main problem is the shades I received are not good matches for me. Having had a look at the site I suspect Golden Fair or Fair would be a better match for me and the True or Tropical Radiance face colours would be much better choices for light or fair skinned customers.

I think the finish of the products is nice and similar to that of the Lily Lolo I wore for years, and I was really happy with that, I just seem to prefer a more creamy finish these days.

If you fancy trying something like this, the whole kit is £45 and good value for money, but it would be my personal recommendation that you try shades out at a counter before purchasing, Had I bought this kit, I'd rather upset to have bought the Light kit and find most products in it are too dark!
