Christian La Croix C'est La Fete Perfume

I love patchouli. I really really love it. I don't associate it with stinky hippies at all. I just adore the scent, I find it calming, exotic and glorious. However, I don't ever use patchouli based products really because I don't want other people to think I am a stinky hippy!

My Mum rang me the other day and was telling me she'd been wandering around Debenhams and had spritzed some perfume on herself that was so overpowering and stinky she was taken aback, but about half an hour later she suddenly realised she smelled lovely. Now, I love overpowering and stinky, and I also love "lovely" is especially if that is a perfume based on patchouli, and especially if that bottle of perfume is reduced in the sale to £9.50. I didn't buy it immediately, but when I found myself shopping online for something else I chucked it in my virtual basket, well at that price it had to be worth a try!

I give you Christian La Croix's C'est La Fete perfume.
It was a bit of a gamble give that I only knew that my Mum liked it, it stinks at first and that it was patchouli based. I just figured that for a tenner I could stick it on ebay or give it to my Mum if I didn't like it.

No need though. I love it so much I am considering buying another couple of bottles and stashing it away and making it my signature scent.

It's eyewateringly strong when you put it on. It's an oriental floral with bergamot, lemon and thats the really overpowering bit. But as it settles down you're left with a (still very strong but also warm and gentle) jasmine, patchouli, sandlewood, and cedar scent that forms a cloud of beautifulness around you.

The fruity elements to this lighten it somewhat so it's not too much. I mean, I wouldn't mind if it was really heavy, but the lemon lifts it slightly which is good.

If this sounds like your cup of tea then grab it quick, I suspect it is not a big seller and that it's reduced to £9.50 to get rid of it and I doubt very much it will be restocked. I'm not kidding when I say that I will be grabbing more for stashing reasons. I really think it's wonderful.

  1. I picked this up a few months ago for £2.90 because I had a £7 voucher (Debenhams), but I haven't actually used it. Really liked it when I tried it on in the shop, I actually went back for it because I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist! :)

  2. You beat me to it. I bought 2. I'm a bit the opposite. I like it at first and then not so much. I was going to blog about this and maybe I still will. I think you can deduce from the price that it hasn't been a huge hit.

  3. I usually wear Tom Ford's White Patchouli - if you're a fan of patchouli it might be worth sniffing out?

(Hello, by the way - I've been reading for a while but too shy to comment!)

  5. Maybe you need to stock up as so many perfumes seem to start and then discontinue, which irritates me so much. Just as an aside I do think that Debenhams has a great selection of perfumes and the SAs are not too in your face. Thanks for this, and your kind comments. Jan xx

  6. Ooh How exciting! I'm surprised to see others have and like it. It gives me hope that people don't think I smell really bad when I'm wearing it.

  7. You are a bad girl you really really are. I read this post with interest, key words jumped out at me and I have learned over the years we have similar scent tastes. (have you tried the solid Lust perfume from Lush btw?) Anyway I took my self off to debs and had an up and down row with the most ignorant SA ever but did manage to smell a discarded tester. OMG! The sandalwood jumps out on me in the most delicious musky warm way, I get the patchouli at the very end of the day, the lemony bit only lasts 20 mins for me but I rather like it anyway.

Thankyou so much. I havent enjoyed a scent so much for many years. xxx
