This week's Beauty Blogger answering my Beauty Blogger's Best Things questions is the lovely Zoe from http://www.thelondonlipgloss.co.uk/.
Now I have to confess I wasn't following this blog and wasn't familiar with Zoe, but I am now! You know how sometimes you just find a blog everyone else seems to know about except you? Zoe's is one of those! Sorry Zoe, better late than never though eh?
So lets crack on with it!
Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
Oh dear, my skincare regime changes monthly! Depending on what i've seen and how hooked I am on using it - I am absolutely addicted to buying skincare. At the minute it looks a little something like this:
Mask - the Body Shop Ionic Clay Mask, Elemis Lavender Herbal Repair Mask,
Exfoliator - the Body Shop Vitamin C, Witch Exfoliator,
Cleanser - Elemis Lime Blossom Cleanser, LUSH Angels on Bare Skin, Murad Wrinkle and Acne Reducer, Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish,
Toner - Liz Earle Spritz Toner, Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser
Moisturiser - The Doctor Brand step 3 Blemish Relief Soothing Lotion, Elemis Maximum Moisture Day Cream, the Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Cream
Night Moisturiser - Decleor White C+ Aromawhite Recovery Brightening Night Cream (phew!)
Other - Witch Blemish pen, seriously, it's full of magic.
I really love Elemis as it's just so soft and kind to the skin, and I love their British ethos of being natural and not testing on animals and everything. The Decleor night cream is absolutely amazing, every time I wake up after putting it on (which isn't often enough, as i'm just so tired, bad Zozo) my skin feels lush and looks perkier and brighter. I've gone out before with no foundation on or anything after having a LUSH bath with the Angels on Bare Skin cleanser too. I'm such a skincare junkie, I feel like i've missed a few here too..!
What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
Shampoo I can take or leave, I use a huge range of Shampoos that change daily. Conditioners however I have a strict list of events. I must alternate between Aussie 3 Minute Miracle and a deep conditioning hair treatment. Right now I love Joico K-Pak Intensive Repair Mask but I also love Wella Colour Preserve Deep Treatment. I dye my hair a lot, it's been anything from black to pink to green, so not only is it frazzled and probably cries itself to sleep, it really needs some love each and every single day. Shampoos I use anything from Umberto Gianni to Tigi to Aussie to Pantene. Whatever takes my fancy!
What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
I really really love MAC. It got me into make up at a young age and I really rate a lot of their products, especially the lipsticks. I love their eyeshadows too. Just recently i've been converted to Illamasqua and right now i like it more than MAC, i got pretty bored with MAC quickly. That's a new upcoming favourite! Other than that probably Urban Decay. I lusted over their rock chick glam packaging back as a kid and still really like a lot of their stuff.
Ok some specifics now!
What is your favourite foundation and why?
It's a toss up between MAC Face and Body and NARS Sheer Glow. Thing is recently i've been trading in my foundation for tinted moisturiser, and I now wear that on a day to day basis. My favourite is Witch, as it's a perfect match for me. I really want to try Nicola Roberts Dainty Doll, as i'm ghostly pale, so that'll be next on my hit list!
What is your favourite mascara and why?
I've a couple, Lancome Hypnose is amazing because it just seperates my lashes and makes me look all doe eyed and cute. Its great for volume and it really holds all day. Lately i've been reaching for MAC's Opulash. I love the formulation, not too wet and not too dry. Works well on my eyelashes and gives them more definition. Also it's about £7 cheaper than Lancome so it's a bit more affordable for me!
What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
Oh Charlie! Hard question. We're talking make up only right? Ok I have to be naughty and say a few (hehe). MAC's All That Glitters eyeshadow. I defy you right now to find someone it doesn't suit. It suits everyone. It's gorgeous. I've hit pan! Sob. I reach for NARS Mekong every single time I go out and I love it. So buttery and soft and blends like a dream for that perfect smoky eye. I think really though it has to be a MAC lipstick. I think any shade. I love their lippies more than any other and I think if you don't own one you should - youll find a formulation perfect for you. From film stars to celebrities to everyday girls, the MAC lipstick started MAC and there's something about them I just love more than other lipsticks!
I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.
Some of my favourites are:
http://www.gemsmaquillage.com/ - no excuse not to follow Gemma, she's incredible.
http://www.beautyjunkielondon.com/ - Jen is a lovely girl and her blog is so informative.
http://www.frillsandspills.com/ - two girls bring you this eclectic mix of jewellery, fashion and lifestyle, i'm hooked on it!
Thanks so much for taking part Zoe, I am totally with you Mac lippies, I can't seem to get enough of them! I do like and love other brands (Nars Matte products I'm looking at you and Chanel Rouge Allure!). Mekong is on my list too... I really want it! Also thanks for the blog recommendations, just one I don't already follow and I'm off to go read as soon as I've finished putting up this post. Thanks for taking part!
Right lovely readers, unless any of you fancy taking part, Zoe is the last Beauty Blogger to do this feature. So please if you would like to take part, drop me and email to Charlie@ladyofthelane.com and I'd be delighted to have you!
