Estee Lauder Modern Mercury Collection

Loving this collection! The Modern Mercury Collections another winner from Estee Lauder and Creative Director Tom Pecheux cites modern architecture as the inspiration of this collection and with it's metallic hues I can see why.

It's not a huge collection, 14 pieces I believe and here's a little look at 4 of the items. Firstly the Pure Colour Liquid Liner (£19).  Available in three Limited Edition shades, Silver Zinc, Graphite and Black Quartz.  Not sure whether Quartz is Ltd as I reviewed a Estee Lauder liquid liner call Graphite some time ago. Here's Silver Zinc.
It's a lovely colour, shoddily applied, have a look at the swatches at the end of this post for a much more accurate depiction of the colour. It wears extremely well, all day, no flaking. I think  Black Quartz looks right up my street so I'm contemplating buying that one.

Next the Pure Colour Eyeshadow Duos (£22.50). There are three, Platinums (Permanent) and Black Chrome and Modern Mercury. I have Modern Mercury.
A silver/white and a cool grey, both shimmery. As always, these perform exceptionally well. Soft buttery and very well pigmented. These are not my colours, they lean a bit blue on me but I can't fault the product. Black Chrome however, well that looks right up my street so that a possible future purchase for me, a black duo? Oh yes please!

Next up the highlight of the collection (see what I did there?). The Pure Colour Illuminating Gelee (£28). Woah. This is certainly a beauty to look at, but does it measure up when used?
First thing I just want to mention is the size. It's pretty big. A great size, filling the bulk of the palette. Lovely stuff. So what is this? Well you can use it as a highlight or wet as an eyeshadow and it's a liquid, gel, powder hybrid product. On my fair skin, it's a little bit too pigmented to be a highlighter, but I can wear it all over my cheeks as a subtle blush with a fab sheen. You can build this up to as much as you like but for me I've gone for a soft look with it and I've found using my duo fibre brush picks up the right amount for me and deposits it nicely where I want it to go.
Love it. Absolutely love it. I know this is out of stock on the Estee Lauder website already so you may find you have to hunt around.

I've done some swatches here, which should be self explanatory, and I've just show them in two different lights to give you a good idea of the different effects in different lights.

So that's everything, nearly. There is of course this beauty. Metallic Sage Nail Lacquer. (£14)
A gorgeous sage colour with bronze/copper shimmer. I must say I really struggled with the application of this one. Each layer, dragged the previous one. However, I've not had this problem with Estee Lauder Polish before and I'm thinking it really didn't like my Seche base coat. So the pictures below are three coats as I tried to fill in the bald spots I kept creating!
There are also some lippies in the collection I'm keen to get to a counter and try out soon.

Anything take your fancy?

  7. oh dear, the 'highlight' of this collection gives me the shiver a bit, it reminds me of snake skin or industrial hard wearing metallic thing you put on surfaces. That aside, this is such a beautiful collection. The eye make up look is probably one of my favourites you've done so far and the nail varnish is wow. if you had essie sew-psyched or something like that, i would love to see how they compare to each other xx
