Step forward Mint Cosmetics Whitening Kit. Which contains (in a lovely box) 4 syringes of 6% Hydrogen peroxide gel, 3 x mouth trays, a box to keep your trays in and an applicator along with a DVD and a guide.
The first thing you need to do is mould the trays to fit your teeth which I have to admit is a pain in the bum. You dunk the tray into boiling water for a few seconds, then let it cool for 3 seconds then push it into around your teeth and gums, as it cools down it sets into position. You can reheat as many times as you need to, to get it right. I had to do it several times over and throughout the course of the entire treatment I don't feel I ever managed to get it as snug as it could be.
I do have quite a few negatives about this product, so I'm going to start with the big positive. It works. It really really works. And at the end of the day, that's the most important thing. Here's a before and after.
I hope you see the difference! I'm completely impressed.
Now I've shown you the results you can achieve I'm going to mention the negatives.
Firstly, the first time I used this I've never created saliva like it. It was absolutely awful! I was thinking there was no way I'd be able to continue using the product, but although I did experience excess saliva each time I used the kit, it was never anything like the first time thank god! It does state on the site that excess mouth-watering is quite normal.
Secondly, it's recommended you use the kit for two forty-minute sessions a day. You can do these back to back if you choose to. Now you can't talk when you have the guards in, you can't eat or drink and I have two small kids. I do not have the time in the day for two sessions unfortunately. I have had to do one forty minute session a day. I suppose this has meant the process has taken me longer than it would otherwise have done... but that's just how it is for me.
I've already touched on the issue with getting the trays to fit well and I never really felt like I did that successfully as what I found was happening was that as the trays weren't completely flush to my teeth a lot of saliva would get into the trays and dilute/wash away the gel. I'm not sure if this was really a difficult thing to do or if it was just me not being able to do it well but all I'm going to say is I achieved great results even with this problem so imagine how amazing my results might have been if I hadn't been losing half the product!
Some important things you should know:
- You can't use this if pregnant or breast feeding.
- You can't use this if you are under 18
- Results are FAST, I noticed results after the second use.
- The products are not tested on animals, nor do they contain any ingredients derived from animals.
So do I recommend this kit? yes! It's brilliant and is a fraction of the cost of having your teeth whitened at the dentist. The kit I have was £59.99 and is available from www.mintcosmetics.co.uk.
Highly recommended.

cool!
ReplyDeleteDid you experience any sensitivity? And how many days did you use it for? x
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, I didnt' experience any sensitivity at all, surprised me as I was expecting some. I used the kit for three weeks once a day for 40 mins although I think I skipped about two days xx
ReplyDeleteOnly £5.99?! Really?? WOW!
ReplyDeleteI was expecting about 10x more than that - home teeth whitening can be so expensive. I will definitely be buying one of these, thank you! x
OMG no! Worst typo I've ever done! I've amended now - god sorry!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think your teeth were too discoloured before but I can tell the difference. I may fancy giving this a go as I have recently noticed my teeth are not as white as they once were...Firstly I think I will try one of the whitening toothpastes out there and if I don't get results with that, I may give this a whirl!
ReplyDeleteHi Helen, try Beverley Hills Whitening if you want a toothpaste!
ReplyDeleteWow, the before and after pictures certainly speak for themselves! I'm always skeptical about home whitening kits but this looks really good. Shame about the excessive saliva production though x
ReplyDeleteOMG - and I do not use that term lightly in fact this maybe the first time I have ever used it in a comment, am totally bowled over by the before and after photos, goodness what a difference.
ReplyDeleteI know it's brilliant isn't it! I think I'm going to buy the little pen thing they do to keep it up! Very impressed!
ReplyDeletesweet jesus, the photos speak for themselves!! this is really working xx
