Topshop Smoky Eyes Quad in Tawny

So after the success of the  Topshop lipsticks I was looking forward to seeing how the eyeshadows held up in comparison. I received the Smoky Eyes Quad in Tawny.
I have to say I really love the packaging for all the Topshop make up, it's simple but quirky and appealing. Onto the quad. Here are two shots, the second shot is leaning a bit more warm than the palette actually is hence the not so great first pic, which is colour accurate.
Well lets look at the very beautiful swatches.
Great pay off on all colours except the lightest which I must admit I struggle to get to show up on my lids, but it works well to soften the other shades. The two shades on the left are without question my favourites and are gorgeous. They swatch well but actually on my lid, its hard to get that kind of pay-off, I'm not complaining, it's a nice effect, just don't expect them to look like those swatches without a bit of effort, although I must admit, I forgot to use primer and suspect that would really help. Even without primer these lasted really well on my lids, most of the day in fact so quality wise they are pretty good. There's no fall out, and they apply well.
It's nice and I think I'll pop and have a look at the Smouldering Smoky Eye quad as those look to be more my colours.

Although I do like this product, I don't think it quite matches up to the standards set by the lipsticks which were amazing for the price. This is £10 and I think a couple of pounds cheaper would be more appropriate.  Two of the colours are amazing, the other two, to my tastes are not so amazing making this a minor success for me, rather than an actual rave! Oh I must add that it has one of those little guides in it that helps you with where to place each colour. I love those in make up since I'm so rubbish at the application! That gives it an extra point from me.

Worth a look I'd say, a smidge over-priced, but generally a nice enough product if the colours suit you.

  2. I like the selection of colours, they look really wearable, but I would definately need a guide, and perhaps a sat nav to locate my socket line!
