Chanel May Le Vernis & Paradis Rouge Coco

I wanted a LOT of things from the Chanel Spring collection this year. I really wanted the eyeshadow quad, the two single shadows, the liner, the blusher, all of the polishes and several of the lip products but I managed to talk myself out of everything in the end. The eye shadows, well the European baked formula often leads to disappointment and I have similar shades already to the single shadows, I don't need more lipsticks, I never wear gloss and although I really liked all the nail polish colours I couldn't justify the best part of £60 on three polishes... and I couldn't decide between them so I thought I'd skip them all. I found a similar blusher I liked just as much so didn't need that stunning blush, which left the liner. Grenat. I still really fancy that if I'm honest. I tweeted loudly and clearly, left, right and centre that I'd be skipping this collection. Yes I did. In hindsight though it seems that was more an effort to convince myself and apparently I fooled no one. Especially since whilst I was busy in my bubble of denial I was lusting after everything from this collection on blog posts all over the net. And leaving comments saying how much I wanted things. Sigh.

So, it'll come as no surprise to most that I ended up caving in and buying a couple of bits. Actually I was extremely conservative for me! Two things! If I hadn't gone in to Debenhams and physically looked at the display then this would never have happened!

So, waffling over, I'll show you what I picked up. Somehow I ended up without the liner I really wanted, so I may go back for that at some point.

I did picked up the Le Vernis in May and the Rouge Coco in Paradis which I totally fell for when I swatched in store.

I'll show you the polish first, Le Vernis Nail Colour in May. I liked all three, I couldn't have all three. I dabbed them all on my nails in store and still couldn't choose. So in the end I went for the highly scientific method of picking the one named after my birth month, May (£17.50).
Yeah, it's pink. Its a lovely shade of pink though. I must say this was a dream to apply, two coats (as shown) is good enough, three would have been perfection but not entirely necessary. I wore this chip free for four days before removing to swatch another polish. The wear was excellent, however, I'm trialling a new base and top coat and am sure that has had a lot to do with the longevity of this. I'm sure it could have gone another couple of days without needing to be removed. I was so pleasantly surprised by this polish. I really enjoyed looking down at my nails. It's pink, really pink, but it's not barbie pink if you know what I mean! Very happy with that purchase.

Then there's Paradis Rouge Coco (£23). I don't know why I fell so hard for this, I just really did. I swatched all the new shades in store and this one called my name. Bright and spring like but not too pink and not too full on.
Obviously I have to include the usual weird wide angled big nosed unflattering shot. A Lady of the Lane post wouldn't be complete without one these days!
It's not my first Rouge Coco but these are a lovely formula promising to deliver 8-hour hydration with a single application. Actually I didn't get 8 hours from one application, more like 5, but I'm not complaining, that's not too shabby at all really!

So that was it. As I say, I'm still being taunted by the Grenat liner which is a deep dark berry shade... we'll see if I can resist it's siren call!

  1. I got all the nail polishes - I was most looking forward to June but it's the worst in terms of application! May is such a nice staple colour and April is lovely for this time of year :) I like the look of that lipstick now too...xx

  2. Pretty sure I'm going to pick up Paradis and one of the Coco Shines. I swatched the blush but it looked a little too sparkly for my liking. You're kind of making me want the nail polish too :S

    1. Oh yes, Paradis would be lovely on you. I think the blush is lovely, but when swatched it's not justifiably different enough from other lovely blushes xx

  4. Good choice, lovely colours! I got the blush and to be honest it's not as good as I thought. I think Dior Glow would've been a better choice.

  7. You can really see how pretty that lip colour is on your skin tone in that last pic, lovely. The nail varnish is much nicer than I had anticipated too. But the thing you have got me needing to check out is the Grenat liner, off for a google right now! x

    1. Oh god! I should NEVER have looked, it is perfect! I want it to go with my Ebloui and when I google imaged the first post that came up had the 2 swatched together! It looks to be very similar in shade to the NYX Shadow in Rust I have ordered to bring out the red tones in Ebloui so I think its going to be a definite purchase next time I am shopping, you are such a bad influence! x

  12. Snap, I tried to resist this collection but went for the exact same lipstick as you. I also came home with the blusher, but no nail polish which must be a first for me! I went back yesterday as I really wanted the liner but it was gone. Hopefully they will get some back in stock, as April nail polish was called my name as well and had also disappeared. Thank goodness it is not all limited edition x
