The Ever Matte Mineral Powder Compact promises to control shine, smooth skin texture, absorb excess sebum and even the complexion for a transparent finish and a natural no mask effect.
Firstly the packaging. This is a compact to be proud of. That beautiful classy and classic gold compact, Sturdy and heavy and beautiful. Inside, there's a mirror in the lid, a sponge powder puff and this beautiful 'quilted' powder. The powder itself just looks smooth and it really is. There are four available shades and I have the second, (01 Transparent Light).
This is a great powder. I don't find it keeps me completely shine free all day long but it does do a good job. I tend to apply using a powder brush in the morning and then when I need a touch up (usually around mid afternoon) I use the included powder puff. It's testament to the product that the puff does a great job of applying the powder exactly where needed and without being cakey in any way.
Although this is a matte powder, it doesn't suck the life out of your skin. It just takes away the shine but still allows some radiance... I know that doesn't sound like it makes much sense, but thats how it is! I don't normally like a very matte finish, usually I find it just makes me look odd and overly made up, whereas this just seems to make me look normal. Not oily, not dry, just fine. And you can't see the powder in place. Perfect.
This was a PR sample, but it retails at £25, but it would seem Escentual are still selling all Clarins with 20% off. Bargain!
Was that shade too dark or too light for you??? I'm looking into Clarins foundations atm! Loving the things I've bought from there and always use escentual, the store owned by the owner of the site is in my town - yey!! and is amazing! xx
ReplyDeleteIt was just about right, I'm v. fair and perhaps I could have gone for the one below but I find this one to be fine, no obvious orange or tide marks! Love Escentual too!
DeleteThis looks lovely, it's always nice to have something a bit special in your makeup bag :)

It really is isn't it!
DeleteI used to use Clinique TM with the yellow skin correcting powder on top, now I have upped my base to EL Double Wear Light which I really think might actually by my holy grail foundation and am still just using a little of the yellow powder on nose and chin, although I have no redness any more and even if I did ELDWL would banish it so I could actually purchase a gorgeous compact like this instead! Or I bet there is a lovely EL powder - will check your archive to see! x
ReplyDeleteIt is really a beautiful compact isn't it! *enables*
DeleteIt's me again - OMG the golden alligator EL compact *dies*!
ReplyDeleteHahahahah! Love it!
DeleteI love Clarins products, but their shade range is usually horrible and I can never find the right match for me - was hoping to try the liquid but I'm scared it'll be the same issue :( Glad to hear this one is in different shades though, it sounds lovely!
ReplyDeletehave a look at the range in store and see what you think xx
DeleteLove the sound of this powder, lovely packaging too! X
ReplyDeleteHi there. I bought the Ever Matte liquid foundation in 107 Beige. Now I'd like to try the Ever Matte powder, but the only colors avail seem to be either too light (Fair) or too dark (Medium Transparent) in the online retail pics. Do you have any experience with these shades? I'm a brunette with dark eyes/brows/hair, but with a skin tone that is not light enough to be "fair" and not dark enough to be "olive." Would the Med shade be too dark, you think?
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, I really wish I could help you out, I'm so fair I've only tried 01 which is the second shade... its actually a tiny bit too dark for me, just a tiny bit. It's so hard to judge from the online pics, they are so useless, if at all possible I'd get to a store but don't let the staff colour match you, do it yourself, I find Clarins counter staff really helpful but always match me far too dark!
DeleteThanks! A very helpful lady on Nordstrom's online chat suggested the Transparent Light. I appreciate your fast response, though :)
