I received three sets of lashes and the lash placement kit and as a lash novice I was nervous and excited to try them out.
I had a few trial runs at home and failed to apply my lashes with both the kit and my fingers and then they sat in my drawer unloved for a long time until my husbands work Christmas party when as an afterthought I chucked them in my make up bag.
I decided to go with the Demi Flair Black for the party, which are the middle set in the picture on the left. Lets just say it didn't go well at first.
First thing was the glue was set like jelly in the pots, but thankfully I'd popped my Duo glue in my bag too. I couldn't get on with the Lash Placement kit at all. I tried and tried and failed, in the end I got them on with my fingers. I've shown them before on this blog, but here they are again for reference.
I loved wearing these! I felt so self conscious at first but I soon forgot about them and they felt great on!
Then for my most recent night out I opted for the Natural Black Set, which are the last set in the top photo.
This time they went on straight away with no problems with the lash placement kit. I didn't get them quite close enough to my natural lashes but this wasn't really noticeable unless you were peering closely at my eyes and to be honest, since they'd gone on so easily I wasn't about to jinx it by removing and attempting to reposition. The natural black set are, as the name suggests, a much more natural set, and they looked lovely on.
The lash placement kit completely confounded me at first. The larger of the two black bits is easy to work out, it's like a lash shaped tweezer, you pop your lashes in, add the glue, wait for a few seconds until the glue is tacky and then press the tweezers onto your lid where you want your lashes to apply, since they are shaped to an eye shape this works well. I think perhaps they weren't great with the Demi Flair because they weren't full length lashes. The bit that really confounded me was the extra bit there, I had absolutely no clue what it was for...but its actually like a little stand for you to place your lashes on when not in use! Clever!
So now my appetite is whetted and I think I'm on the cusp of becoming a lash addict! I have my eyes on the Slant Volume Lashes and Criss Cross Whispy Lashes.
I recommend Cocktail Cosmetics as a stockist :)
*Disclosure - PR Sample, all items in this post were provided to me free of charge by Japonesque*
I too am afraid of lashes! I have had great success with the Revlon pre glued ones so I'm now going to attempt the glue my own version.
ReplyDeleteJust a side note, I thought that extra bit (the stand) was to help shape the lashes into a more eye shape round, if they flatten out? Goes to show how much I know!!!
The first ones you used, I hate that shape on me personally because of having hooded eyelids and short lashes all round it does nothing for me.
ReplyDeleteThough the second pair look really natural and very black! I have tried those placement things before and never got on with them coz I'm cack handed and find I can't see what I'm doing. Haha!
Btw your visitor thing creeps me out!
I love the Demi Flair Black ones, and will buy those if I ever go out any time soon. They rocked on you at your husband's holiday party. I guess the more you practice the easier it gets to put them on. I'm ALWAYS self conscious no matter what I put on, it's no wonder the one & only time I wore fake lashes I ended up pulling them off before the end of the night! I couldn't face anyone afterwards because I knew I had a bunch of glue residue all over my eyes, LOL! How embarrassing!
