My Clarisonic Mia

Well, I gave into the hype and grabbed myself a Clarisonic Mia from Buyapowa not too long ago when I had a little windfall and I've now been using it sufficiently long enough to give you my thoughts. It's obviously not a cheap item to buy so if you've been thinking about treating yourself, read on.

I messed around with this at first, not at all sure what I was doing if I'm honest. I tried several cleansers, I also wasn't sure if you were supposed to use it to remove your make up... sounds idiotic now, but I only tried that once before I realised it wasn't ideal. Using the Clarisonic when you have a face full of make up on feels ridiculous. Not only does your brush clog up with a load of cosmetics, but it feels like what you're actually doing is grinding the filth further into your skin. So now I double cleanse.

I remove my make up first using a cleansing oil, in my case, the Origins Clean Energy Cleansing Oil, then I pat my face dry and apply the brand new Molton Brown Kalahari Melon Cleansing Fluid (review coming soon) and set to work on my face. The Mia runs for 1 minute and I concentrate on the areas of skin I want to improve the most. For me this is my chin, the dry flaky bits around my nose and along my jaw. So I concentrate on those areas and spend less time on the other areas but make sure they still get a good going over. Then when the 1 minute is up I get a clean muslin and some fresh warm water and remove any cleanser residue from my skin. Done. I then follow up with my usual routine of toners/oils/moisturisers depending on the time of day. I do tend to only use the Clarisonic once a day though, evenings, 7 days a week.

So what results have I seen? Well the Clarisonic infamously brings you a delightful purging stage, i.e. break out, which unfortunately for me coincided with my hormonal spots... so I had about three weeks of worse skin then ever before I turned the corner.

Now I'm not spot free, I've given up hope that I'll ever be spot free, my hormones seem to just hate me, but generally speaking my skin has taken a massive turn for the better. Firstly, it just feels clean. I realise now that my skin has never really felt clean before, now it does, and it glows. I am seeing less spots, outside of the monthly ones, I am seeing smaller pores and I'm seeing less bumps under my skin although alas they don't seem to want to shift completely either.

So the Clarisonic is a massive WIN for me. I had hoped it might be my miracle cure for the bumps under my skin and even my hormonal spots, but thats ok, those were unrealistic expectations anyway, the results I have seen are fabulous. I think the Clarisonic paired with a skincare routine that finally seems to consist of holy grail products for me (reviews coming soon) have worked wonders.

I would say if you have fab skin anyway, you don't need this expensive gadget, but if you suffer from dull skin, flaky skin, or spots, its a definite boon. As an aside, don't use it with a foaming cleanser unless you want to strip every bit of moisture from your skin... not good and spot causing. But maybe thats just me!

Anyway, highly recommended. I recommend ShopRush as a seller btw, I'm not affiliated with them but they are a great store and have free delivery on all orders over £15 and 10% off your first order.
