YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat - The Foundation

You've got to admit, this is pretty exciting stuff. Touche Eclat is an iconic product, one of the first high end cosmetic products I bought  in about 1994 (it was released in 1991 I believe) and I still have it in my make up bag now.

Touche Eclat, incredibly, sells one every ten seconds so I think La Teint Touche Eclat must be the most hotly anticipated foundation ever. The foundation itself doesn't contain opaque powders like most foundations, instead it's made with a soft focus gel that forms a diffusing and translucent film smoothing about imperfections but without creating a mask like effect. The end result should be one that conceals imperfections and illuminates to give an a natural result.

The bottles I am showing you up there are small sample bottles not the actual packaging, which is as classy as you might expect, glass with a gold lid.

So the foundation itself comes in 22 shades split in to neutral (Beige), cool (Beige Rose) and warm (Beige Dore) shades and I was sent samples of B10 (Beige) as I wasn't at all sure which would suit me best. Actually this shade isn't quite right for me, looking at the pictures of shades, Beige Dore BD10 looks like it might be better for me. Anyway, it's close enough for me to still be wearing it, I'm just aware its not quite perfect.

In terms of formula, this is incredibly light and you can build it up, you can apply using fingers or brush, both work for me actually, I tend to reach for my brush more often but that's just force of habit, it works really well with fingers.

I don't know if you can see on the second picture there, where I've blended out the foundation, there's a sort of sheen, it's not shimmer, it's not frosty, it's just a lovely sheen. On my face it's slightly less obvious but still imparts a nice level of glow.

I think you can see it's a shade too dark for me there when you look at the difference between my chin and neck, but's not relevant really, it's the overall finish you should be looking at, it's really natural and it's really beautiful. It does a great job of hiding imperfections, but not blemishes, I still need a good concealer for any spots, but this is lovely. As soon as it hits counters I'll be going in to see if the other shade is a better match for me.

Speaking of which Le Teint Touche Eclat launches in Brown Thomas and Selfridges on 28th June followed by a nationwide launch on 9th July.

Are you looking forward to this one?
