Hydraluron is essentially a sort of serum containing Hyaluronic acid. You use it in conjunction with all your other skin care products, this isn't to replace your usual serums, you use this underneath your other products but after cleansing and toning.
Hyaluronic acid is produced by the body and keeps your skin sort of...god damn it, if you want to know what Hyaluronic acid is, please read Caroline's post, because she explains it so well I'd only be copying and rephrasing in a more clumsy fashion!
So I've been using this for a good month now, day and night. In terms of use it's simple, a little goes a long way, and it doesn't leave a feeling of anything on the skin, within minutes your skin feels as though you've put nothing on it, which is a good thing, particularly if you are then layering on serums and moisturisers, you don't want to feel like your face is covered in product!
That is pretty much the only good thing I have to say about this stuff though sadly. I don't actually have anything bad to say about it either but I've stopped using it.
The reason I've stopped using it is that my skin has turned horrific. It has slowly been getting worse over the last year or two, really stepping up it's horribleness in the last couple of months and this month my skin is the worst it has ever been in my life.
I'm at my wits end with my skin, but have decided that I just need to stop putting stuff on my skin until I actually have some idea what I'm doing. And I don't. I can't say that the Hydraluron has made my skin worse, in fact I suspect it is rather an unfortunate coincidence that in the month I've been using this my skin has become the worst it's ever been, and adding to that the fact that my skin has been getting progressively worse over the last year or two, I think with or without Hydraluron my skin would still look like this.
I've just reached the stage now where I'm afraid to put anything on my face. I also didn't notice much in the way of any other improvements while using this...but I'm so fixated on the acne, it's no surprise I can't see the good.
I can tell you this though, since I've stopped using it, the skin on my nose is dry as a bone :(
So this is neither a good review nor a bad review, but hopefully I tell you a little bit about it and have referred you to someone who can tell you a lot more and with a lot more authority!

Poor love. Hope you get your skin sorted. :( And thank you for the mention and kind words. X
ReplyDeleteAny time.... I thought you might shout at me and tell me now was the very time I needed to be using it! xx
DeleteMy skin is the same lately and Ive turned to Vichy Normaderm Anti-Ageing - Anti-Imperfection, Anti-Wrinkle Resurfacing Care. Im not sure if you've tried it, but its been working a treat on my skin. It tackles all my problems in one. Ive got a review coming in the next few days, if you fancy a read.
ReplyDeleteThanks JO, I'll go and have a google and will look forward to reading your review... does sound from the title, like just what I need!
DeleteI wondered about trying this as well but my skin reacts to so much I too get scared to try other things, I do think with sensitive/acne skin its best to stick to what you know and keep it simple, have you tried Pai as I find them a good range for my easily upset skin?
ReplyDeleteIt feels very innocuous, and unless you use too much you just can't feel its there, I'm loathe to point any fingers other than to say I feel like my skin just shouldn't have anything on it at all, whatever brand. So I feel completely stuck. Am happy with my eye cream , cleanser and toner, but other than that I'm afraid of everything!
DeleteShit, your poor poor skin. No new creams!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely no new creams. I'm sticking to what I've been using for ages (manuka doctor) but I don't know if thats the right thing to do or not!
DeleteI have been following you on twitter for a while and must say I'm in the same boat when it comes to your skin. mine has been since I came off the pill over a year ago. it doesn't matter what I use on it, face wash, spot treatments, supplements. nothing has helped. I've finally found that if I use cotton pads and lush's tea tree toner and NOTHING else, my skin stays bearable. this isn't really a helpful comment I know, but just want you to know that you will find something that world for you eventually :)
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely. I can't use Tea Tree, it affects me quite badly alas but you're right, there is something out there surely! I am definitely going to go and see my GP though as it's largely hormonal for me, or at least it used to be, now it's just all month long! xx
DeleteI can't use tea tree either - but for some reason the lush one is ok ( maybe cause it doesn't actually contain much?) anyway, good luck at the docs. when I went they were crap! actually told me to stop wearing makeup cause thats why i was getting 'spots' then offered me roaccutane.
DeleteYes thats what I'm afraid of... I'm going armed with a whole host of hormonal issue so hope they see a bigger picture!
DeleteI've read alot of good things about this product as well but haven't tried it as too many skincare products at the moment. Don't stress about your skin as will only make matters worse. Hopefully, you can figure out what's causing the breakouts but yes going back to basics sounds like a good step.
ReplyDeletemy skins the exact same at the moment, i'm trying everything to get it blemish free... mainly trying to drink more water and change my diet but i'm just at the end of my tether, i had seriously considered hydraluron but i do sometimes think am I doing more harm than good putting stuff onto my skin?!

I hope your skin gets better soon, stressful skin is no fun:(
ReplyDeleteI have the Hydraluron but I haven't given it a proper use yet but initial thoughts are it is quite nice.
